Impeach Bush NOW ! - October 17, 2007
OFFICIAL IMPEACHMENT TEXT
WHEREAS, Jefferson's Manual section LIII, 603, states that impeachment may be set in motion by charges transmitted from the legislature of a State; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has intentionally misled the Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war against Iraq, in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 1001 and intentionally conspired with others to defraud the United States in connection with the war against Iraq in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 371; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has admitted to ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American civilians without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, duly constituted by Congress in 1978, in violation of Title 50 United States Code, Section 1805; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has conspired to commit the torture of prisoners in violation of the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention, which under Article VI of the Constitution are part of the "supreme Law of the Land"; and
WHEREAS, George W. Bush has acted to strip Americans of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to legal counsel, without charge and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an "enemy combatant", all in subversion of law; and
WHEREAS, In all of this George W. Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President, subversive of constitutional government to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the State of ___________ and of the United States.
Be it resolved that George W. Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

Dear Richard,
I was reading an interesting article about a book two female advertising executives wrote about their unique attitude. Their philosophy was that it pays to be nice. In other words, they didn't go in for the dog-eat-dog mentality, or the idea that you had to be out to "get" your competition. And, lo and behold, they succeeded and became one of the nation's fastest-growing advertising agencies.
They said, "Actually, it takes courage to be nice. It takes bravery to help your enemy or give kudos to your competitor. It takes great inner strength to show compassion for someone who isn't treating you particularly well." And they cite research that has shown that taking the nice path can strengthen not only your career, but also marriage and even health. Well, Richard, I'm actually not surprised at that.
What it really boils down to is that old saying about "what goes around comes around." And that is just a description of what you might call the Law of the Universe. What we "put out there" comes back to us. So, if we're expressing ourselves negatively in our thoughts or words or acting in a destructive way, the Universe is going to reflect that back to us. On the other hand, if we have a positive mindset and act for and look for the best in any situation, the Universe will echo back that to us in abundance.
So, Richard, I'd like to leave you with this simple thought: don't be afraid to be nice! It pays.

Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we
need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.
Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)
"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a
plan for peace. So, here's one plan."
1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in
their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin,
Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole
boys", we will never "interfere" again.
2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with
Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't
want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed
sneaking through holes in the fence.
3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and
leave.We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder
will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or
where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.
4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90
days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation
will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and
don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't
need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.
5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers.
If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.
6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy
wise. This will include developing non polluting sources of energy, but
will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The
caribou will have to cope for a while.
7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel
for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go
somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells
filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we
will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds,
rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them
is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very
little, if anything.
9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't
need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building
would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no

ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

Mike Wartell's review of Stop Irrational Logic at Asylum NYC 9/27 - October 13, 2006
Hi Richard,
Great show last night, totally off the hook, 2 drummers really blew my mind. Every time I see Guy I appreaciate him more and more, he has hang and timing paterns that are very different, he also uses the cymbals as an instrument not just as "punctuation", he really is a extreamly funky drummer! 2 Guitars... The rest of the band super as always, Tanya is a mind blower, she lets it just flow in all styles, on hitters and ballards. The new Bass player was super too.
I love the way you started the set with the Bass player just jammin to the turntable then one by one everybody walked on and joined in the jam. I have seen this before (Eddie Harris 1970's) many years ago and its still a sweet move.
Most importantantly you looked GREAT, and more importantantly I'm happy your healthy and going to me around for a long time! After my divorce, I want to loose weight and get healthy too so I won't feel & look so old at the gigs I go to.
I will unload the camera this weekend if I can and start looking for good images for you.
Also I ran into little Luca the guitar player from Blue Number Nine. He's leaving them and looking for more work as well as my friend Stefanie at Blue Number Nine is looking for a new replacement guitar player if you know of any. Her band is on the road all summer doing outdoor venues etc. I meet here when she opened for Average White Band here in Stamford at the outdoor Summer Series. She's great people!

NEWS FLASH !!! THE TRUTH - September 4, 2006
A patriot is a person who loves his or her country. Who among you loves your country so much that you have come here today to raise your voice out of deep concern for our nation - and for our world?
And who among you loves your country so much that you insist that our nation's leaders tell us the truth?
Let's hear it: "Give us the truth! Give us the truth! Give us the truth!"
Let no one deny we are patriots. We love our country, we hold dear the values upon which our nation was founded, and we are distressed at what our President, his Administration, and our Congress are doing to, and in the name of, our great nation.
Blind faith in bad leaders is not patriotism.
A patriot does not tell people who are intensely concerned about their country to just sit down and be quiet; to refrain from speaking out in the name of politeness or for the sake of being a good host; to show slavish, blind obedience and deference to a dishonest, war-mongering, human-rights-violating President.
That is not a patriot. Rather, that person is a sycophant. That person is a member of a frightening culture of obedience - a culture where falling in line with authority is more important than choosing what is right, even if it is not easy, safe, or popular. And, I suspect, that person is afraid - afraid we are right, afraid of the truth (even to the point of denying it), afraid he or she has put in with an oppressive, inhumane regime that does not respect the laws and traditions of our country, and that history will rank as the worst presidency our nation has ever had to endure.
In response to those who believe we should blindly support this disastrous President, his Administration, and the complacent, complicit Congress, listen to the words of Theodore Roosevelt, a great President and a Republican, who said: The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. President Bush represented to Congress, without any factual basis whatsoever, that Iraq planned, authorized, committed, or aided the 9/11 attacks.
Our President and Vice-President, along with an unquestioning news media, repeatedly led our nation to believe that there was a working relationship between Al Qaeda and the Iraqi government, a relationship that threatened the US .
Even last week, when I met with Thomas Bock, National Commander of the American Legion, I asked him why we are engaged in the war in Iraq . He said, "Why, of course, because of the 9/11 attacks on our country." I asked, "What did Iraq have to do with those attacks?" He looked puzzled, then said, "Well, the connection between Al Qaeda and Iraq ."
I was shocked. Here is a man who has criticized us for opposing the war in Iraq - and he is completely wrong about the underlying facts used to justify this war.
Not only has there never been any evidence of any involvement by Saddam Hussein or Iraq with the attacks on 9/11, but there has never been any evidence of any operational connection whatsoever between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda.
Colin Powell finally conceded there is no "concrete evidence about the connection." "The chairman of the monitoring group appointed by the United Nations Security Council to track Al Qaeda" disclosed that "his team had found no evidence linking Al Qaeda to Saddam Hussein." And the top investigator for our European allies has said, 'If there were such links, we would have found them. But we have found no serious connections whatsoever.'"

It's terrific that the President has now admitted what others have known for so long - but where is the accountability for the tragic war we were led into on the basis of his earlier misrepresentations?

By its failure to promptly disclose the forgeries, the news media betrayed us as well. Had the American people known we were being lied to - had President Bush informed us that the documents were forged and that he had no other basis for his claim - had our nation's media done its job, rather than slavishly repeating to us the lies being fed to it by the Bush Administration - our nation may well not have allowed the commencement of this outrageous, illegal, unjustified war.

Then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice said that high-strength aluminum tubes acquired by Iraq were "only really suited for nuclear weapons programs," warning "we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud." Undisclosed by President Bush or Condoleezza Rice was the fact that top nuclear scientists had informed the Administration that the tubes were "too narrow, too heavy, too long" to be useful in developing nuclear weapons and could be used for other purposes. Dr. Mohamed El Baradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, agreed. So much for the phony claims of Saddam Hussein building nuclear weapons - the primary claims justifying the rush to war. What were we told about chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction? These claims were as baseless and fraudulent as the claims about nuclear weapons.
President Bush told us in his January 2003 State of the Union address that Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. Then, in May of 2003, he made the outlandish statement that, "We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories." Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld told us, "We know where the [WMDs] are." Vice President Cheney and then-Secretary of State Powell also joined in the chorus of lies and misinformation about weapons of mass destruction.
Of course, no stockpiles of biological or chemical weapons were found. Bush Administration Weapons Inspector David Kay noted that Iraq did not have an ongoing chemical weapons program after 1991 - a conclusion remarkably similar to statements made by Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice before the 9/11 attacks - and before they sacrificed the truth in the service of promoting the Bush Administration's case for war against Iraq.
On February 24, 2001, less than 7 months before 9/11, Colin Powell said that Saddam Hussein "has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors," said Colin Powell.

We are here because of our values. We love our country. We cherish the freedoms and liberties of our country. We don't call those who speak out against our nation's leaders unpatriotic or un-American or appeasers of fascists.
We have good, wholesome family values. In our families, we teach honesty, we teach kindness and compassion toward others, we teach that violence, if ever justified, must be an absolutely last resort. In our families, we teach that our nation's constitutional values are to be upheld, and that they are worth standing up and fighting for. Our family values promote respect and equal rights toward everyone, regardless of race, ethnic origin, and sexual orientation. In our families, we teach the value of hard work and competence - and we are left to wonder about a President who, after receiving an intelligence memo about the threat posed by Al Qaeda, decides to continue his month-long vacation - just before the 9/11 attacks on our country.
As we demand the truth from others, let us also face the truth. Our government all too often has not cared about the human rights of people in other nations - and it doesn't really care about democracy, unless it leads to the election of those who will do our bidding. Consider the irony regarding the claims that Saddam had chemical weapons and, because of that, we needed to rush to war in Iraq . When Saddam Hussein was using chemical weapons - first against Iranians, then against his own people, the Kurds - our country provided him with biological and chemical agents and equipment to make the weapons. Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush refused even to support economic sanctions against Hussein for his use of weapons of mass destruction. What did our nation do in response to Hussein's use of chemical weapons, killing tens of thousand of people, when he actually had them?
We befriended, coddled, and rewarded him - with government-guaranteed loans totaling $5 billion since 1983, freeing up currency for Hussein to modernize his military assets.
Perhaps those in the US government who aided and abetted Saddam Hussein to further US business interests, while he was gassing the Kurds, should be sharing his courtroom dock as he is being tried now for crimes against humanity. No more lies, no more hiding of the truth, no more wars that more than triple the value of stock in Dick Cheney's prior employer, Halliburton - and which, as of last September, has increased the value of the Halliburton CEO's stock by $78 million.

As we demand the truth from others, let us also face the truth. Our government all too often has not cared about the human rights of people in other nations - and it doesn't really care about democracy, unless it leads to the election of those who will do our bidding. Consider the irony regarding the claims that Saddam had chemical weapons and, because of that, we needed to rush to war in Iraq . When Saddam Hussein was using chemical weapons - first against Iranians, then against his own people, the Kurds - our country provided him with biological and chemical agents and equipment to make the weapons. Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush refused even to support economic sanctions against Hussein for his use of weapons of mass destruction. What did our nation do in response to Hussein's use of chemical weapons, killing tens of thousand of people, when he actually had them?
We befriended, coddled, and rewarded him - with government-guaranteed loans totaling $5 billion since 1983, freeing up currency for Hussein to modernize his military assets.
Perhaps those in the US government who aided and abetted Saddam Hussein to further US business interests, while he was gassing the Kurds, should be sharing his courtroom dock as he is being tried now for crimes against humanity. No more lies, no more hiding of the truth, no more wars that more than triple the value of stock in Dick Cheney's prior employer, Halliburton - and which, as of last September, has increased the value of the Halliburton CEO's stock by $78 million.
We are patriots. We're deeply concerned. And we demand change, now. No more lies from Condoleezza Rice about whether she and President Bush were advised before 9/11 of the possibility of planes being flown into buildings by terrorists.
No more gross incompetence in the office of the Secretary of Defense.
No more torture of human beings.
No more disregard of the basic human rights enshrined in the Geneva Convention.
No more kidnapping of people and sending them off to secret prisons in nations where we can expect they will be tortured.
No more unconstitutional wiretapping of Americans.
No more proposed amendments to the United States Constitution that would, for the first time, limit fundamental rights and liberties for entire classes of people simply on the basis of sexual orientation.
No more federal land giveaways to developers.
No more increases in mercury emissions from old, dirty, dangerous coal burning power plants.
No more backroom deals that deprive protection for millions of acres of wild lands.
No more attacks on immigrants who work so hard to build better lives.
No more inaction by Congress on fixing our hypocritical and inconsistent immigration laws and policies.
No more reliance on fiction rather than the science of global warming.
No more manipulation of our media with false propaganda.
No more disastrous cuts in funding for those most in need.
No more federal cuts in community policing and local law enforcement grant programs for our cities.
No more inaction on stopping the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan .
No more of the Patriot Act.
No more killing.
No more pre-emptive wars.
No more contempt for our long-time allies around the world.
No more dependence on foreign oil.
No more failure to impose increased fuel efficiency standards for automobiles.
No more energy policies developed in secret meetings between Dick Cheney and his energy company cronies.
No more excuses for failing to aggressively cut global warming pollutant emissions.
No more tragically incompetent federal responses to natural disasters.
No more tax cuts for the wealthiest, while the middle class and those who are economically-disadvantaged continue to struggle more and more each year.
No more reckless spending and massive tax cuts, resulting in historic deficits and historic accumulated national debt.
No more purchasing of elections by the wealthiest corporations and individuals in the country.
No more phony, ineffective, inhumane so-called war on drugs. No more failure to pass an increase in the minimum wage.
No more silence by the American people.
This is a new day. We will not be silent. We will continue to raise our voices. We will bring others with us. We will grow and grow, regardless of political party-unified in our insistence upon the truth, upon peace-making, upon more humane treatment of our brothers and sisters around the world.
We will be ever cognizant of our moral responsibility to speak up in the face of wrongdoing, and to work as we can for a better, safer, more just community, nation, and world.
So we won't let down. We won't be quiet. We will continue to resist the lies, the deception, the outrages of the Bush Administration. We will insist that peace be pursued, and that, as a nation, we help those in need. We must break the cycle of hatred, of intolerance, of exploitation. We must pursue peace as vigorously as the Bush Administration has pursued war. It's up to all of us to do our part.

Hello everyone,
first I just want to send much love and good vibes to everyone who made the last 2 weeks really special for me. Most love to my family, Mike Wendel, Brian Krochtengle and Beth and Craig Davis. Thanks for taking care of your uncle. Steve was amazing taking care of all technical needs . I felt like I was with a cross between Scotty and McGuyver. It was great to hang with all my new friends. Mike great Apt. and party. Jay thanks for being a great host. and to mikes crew - You are all beautiful people and it was great to get to know you. I hope to see you all when I start bringing some bands down to Miami. Friday the 1st was the Grand Opening of Bricks in Brickel. Beautiful club. I played for a Private party of close friends on the roof. The deck is beautiful. Unfortunately the show for monday was canceled but still think there is going to be some great shows up on that deck. I also jammed with the DJ at the Raleigh on the 4th I felt great and everybody seemed to enjoy. To the DJ's who got the CD Hope you dig it and drop a line.

June Summary - June 27, 2006
June has been a very hot month for me. As always I did my steady tuesday at Terra Blues. I played at the Pink Elaphant on Thursday. Then it was off to Lake George with The Stingers I was back for Monday Night at The cotton club. It was an honor to sub for Al Pazant and take the lead chair. I think everyone should pay a visit uptown on a Monday to see the Cotton Club All-Stars. Wednesday It was Bed. It was very good to see my old friend Eddie working the door. Thursday it was the lions Den With Guy and the Yazmin All-Stars. Monday I was back at La-Esquina And I will be at Marquis on Wednesday. Friday I will Be at the Grand Opening of Bricks Down in Miami. and then Thursday July 6th I will Be with Pucho and the Latin soul-Brothers at The Jazz Mobile (Harlem). July 14 I will be in Delaware with The Joe Baione Sextet. I will Be with Milo z in August At the red lion and Block Island. I hope To See you at One of the shows.
Clifford Brown Jazz Festival - June 9, 2006
Yesterdays festival started off wonderful. The park at Rodney Square was perfect. It was packed with a beautiful audience until the thunder and torrential rain came. I'm glad we were able to play for a little while. I hope we get to come back next year. This medicine doesn't so much as cure the common flu.
In normal conditions the virus does not affect humans.
Rumsfeld sells the patent for TAMIFLU to ROCHE for which
they pay him a fortune.
Roche acquires 90% of the global production of crushed
aniseed, the base for the antivirus.
The governments of the entire world threaten a pandemic and
then buy industrial quantities of the product from Roche.
So we end up paying for medicine while Rumsfeld, Cheney and
Bush do the business.

world in all that time?

Monday At The Cotton Club - April 25, 2006
I had an amazing time playing at The Cotton Club last night. You know it really is a show that everyone should see. Between the all-star big band the wonderful vocalists and the amazing swing dancers you will feel like you were back in the 1940's and Dutch Schultz was still hanging out in the balcony. The staff are really friendly and will make you feel right at home. I look forward to playing with them again and I hope you try to make it next time.
What a Night - April 22, 2006
Thursday was one of those crazy nights. All those costumes were great. I hope my buddy Ross will let me know the name of the club so I can put it in this news clip. Thanks to Lisa Ackerman for taking those pictures of me playing and I hope to put some of them up for you to see.
Next we were off to La Esquina which you will never find. It is hidden underneath a taco stand. The place was beautiful the music was hip and it was fun to play with the DJ.
We made our last stop at "The Pink Elephant" the place was packed . The music was killing. It was great to play with all those percussion players and the DJ. I felt like I was back in Europe where I started this craze of playing with the DJ'S over 12 years ago way before it was popular. Special thanks to Mike T. for being my host and Marlo who will be getting me more involved in this club scene.

Just got back from Lafayette LA.
Once again playing with Pucho and the Latin Soul-Brothers. We had a great time. It was a pleasure to play for all of you. The children of lafayette were some of the nicest kids I have had the pleasure of playing for. Thanks to all for being such wonderful audiences. Special thanks to Jackie who brought us there and turned us on to some of the best southern food I've ever eaten. We look forward to coming back.

Playing with Milo Z - April 7, 2006
Last night was the first time I did a gig with Milo Z in almost 4 years. It was a pleasure to funk it up once more. Milo is such a pro and I had alot of fun. I hope to do it again. Im Leaving for Lafayette Louisianna for a festival with Pucho and The Latin Soul-Brothers Saturday and I will write in after the show.
